John Grooms Care Home, Southend on Sea

A new state-of-the-art care home for John Grooms. This was a difficult site which demanded interesting and challenging structural solutions. The upper floors are suspended from the roof structure to give a clear unobstructed space below.

A secondary school for the Diocese of Rochester. Mostly steel framed with in-situ cantilevered, curved stair towers. Long span Sports Hall and deep Vierendeel trusses provide interesting structural features.

Holy Trinity C of E School, Richmond

The existing defective hall building was demolished to make way for this new multipurpose hall. Features include tied glulaminated timber trusses supported on base, fixed cantilevered steel columns together with end gable. Constructed using steel reinforced hollow block masonry.

The development is constructed from load-bearing masonry with concrete floors and a timber trussed rafter roof with the majority of the external elevations clad with Western Red Cedar weather-boarding.

We are delighted to be involved in the structural and civil design works of this development which consists of 112 flats with a large basement carpark that covers 75% of the site area. The superstructure is a combination of reinforced concrete flat slab frames and traditional load-bearing masonry.

Chingford Foundation School

New Sports Hall, Changing Rooms,
Administration and Classes Building

The three buildings are part of an expansion programme which is near completion. The sport hall is characterised by a unique parabolic shaped roof, a north facing high level glazed curtain walling and 20m inside clear spans. The buildings were structured in steel, masonry and reinforced concrete.
