John Grooms Home for Disabled Persons, Southend
on Sea
A
new residential home for 24 disabled persons on a contaminated
brownfield site. The Budgen Partnership have been involved in the
project from its earliest stage and have supervised demolition and
decontamination of the site. The building is a structural steel
frame with lightweight cold formed steel infill panels to form the inner leaf
of the external wall and partitions to achieve large clear spans and
thin floor decks. Part of the structure is hung from large beams
within the roof space.
